The sun fades as the workday ends. Conversations seem to last a bit longer, weekend plans are shared and the treats are getting divided up to take home. Another week is coming to pass as we approach the end-of-year holidays. There’s excitement in the air, and it’s great to enjoy. But the day isn’t over.
If we mentally disengage on Fridays because we long for a weekend, we miss 20% of the work week.
If we drag our feet on Mondays because a new week is upon us, we waste a day of our week.
If we just muscle through Wednesdays because, “hey, it’s hump day,” then we undermine the potential of an entire day.
And if we slide into the new year without a strong finish, we can miss opportunities that will never come around again.
Do we section off days of our lives that we will one day regret not living fully?
I don’t know about you, but I want to live each 24-hour period joyfully and purposefully. That doesn’t mean work productively every day, for some days require rest. But it means being intentional about each day, whether it’s a holiday or the first Monday after a nice long break.
So as we come to the close of this day, let’s finish strong with whatever we’ve put our hands to.
And as we enter the last days of the year, may we finish with a character that our 2020 selves will look back on and be proud.
Time to go enjoy dinner and my family, it’s EOD.
